John Swinney 'considering' standing as SNP leader

Former Deputy First Minister John Swinney says he is "actively considering" standing for the leadership of the SNP and to become the first minister of Scotland.

Mr Swinney was speaking after Humza Yousaf announced his resignation as party leader and first minister.

Mr Swinney, who has been a member of the Scottish Parliament since 1999, served as leader of the SNP between 2000 and 2004.
