World Cheerleading Championships: Salford team bring medals home

Cheerleaders from a special abilities group in Salford have brought gold medals home from Florida.

The team are England’s first special abilities unified pom team, including 11 cheerleaders with special educational needs and disabilities.

They took part in the International Cheerleading Union World Cheerleading Championships 2024, along with more than 11,000 others from 21 different countries.

One of the cheerleaders said: "It was magical, an amazing thing to do", while another said she was happy and tired.
